SPHERIX WINS ORANGE COUNTY PARKS RESERVATIONS CONTRACT

County Market Adds to Company’s State and National Business

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

BELTSVILLE, MD, Spherix Incorporated (NASDAQ/SPEX) today announced that Orange County, California, has awarded the Company a 5-year contract worth approximately $1 million to operate its reservations and retail sales system to support the County’s harbors, beaches and parks.

“It’s a great win for both sides,” said Richard Levin, President and CEO of Spherix.  “Orange County is really breaking new ground here.  As far as we know, it’s the first county government in the country to have a reservation service of this caliber.  It will allow the County to serve its citizens and visitors better while attracting new tourism dollars from beyond its borders.  For us, customizing our ReserveWorld product to the special functions and needs of counties represents a significant growth area.  There are more than 3,000 counties in the United States, many of which have at least some need for the kind of cost-effective reservation and point-of-sale services that we can provide.  The people of Orange County are at the forefront, and I applaud them for their vision.”

Spherix’s advanced ReserveWorld service allows people to easily reserve and pay for campsites, boat slips and other items in real time over the Internet, through a toll-free call center, or at the parks with no double booking, delays, or cutoffs.  The system also allows government agencies to better plan and manage park inventory and related finances.  Over the past six years, Spherix has developed an approach for combining technological innovation, cost effectiveness and customer service into a single package that has vastly reduced the implementation headaches that have dogged other reservation systems.

Orange County’s system is expected to go live in May.  Spherix operates reservation services for the National Park Service, 11 states, and two other counties.
