SPHERIX WINS MARYLAND CALL CENTER CONTRACTS

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

BELTSVILLE, MD, Spherix Incorporated (NASDAQ/SPEX) has been awarded contracts worth approximately $3.2 million per year to operate call centers for Maryland State agencies.  Approved October 20 by the Board of Public Works, the contracts have a three-year base period plus two option years, for a possible five-year duration.  Under the contracts, Spherix will serve a variety of agencies, including the Department of Human Resources and the Department of Natural Resources, by providing contact center solutions; and the State parks, in processing reservations.

 

            Spherix’s Acting CEO and President, Richard Levin, said, “This is an important win for us.  It shows that we have the experience and expertise to come up with innovative, cost-effective solutions to some of the State’s most difficult customer service challenges.  It also demonstrates our ability to work with clients in implementing those solutions.  We see this as a win, not only for Spherix, but also for Maryland State agencies and the citizens of Maryland.”

 

            Spherix first won this contract in 1998.  The Department of Budget and Management, which oversees the contract, split what was previously a single contract into two separate contracts for the purposes of this competition.  Spherix won both contracts, and will perform them at its headquarters in Beltsville, and at its operations center in Cumberland.  One contract is solely for the State parks reservations project, and the other allows any State agency to use Spherix to perform call center work.  Spherix will be marketing the latter contract to other State agencies for their customer service projects that require call center services.
